Phase 1 Habitat Survey

Standard initial survey to map broad habitat types (woodland, grassland, fen) and flag potential ecological issues, often “extended” for protected species.

National Vegetation Classification (NVC) Survey

Highly detailed classification of vegetation communities, crucial for sensitive habitats like peatlands, woodlands, and montane areas.

UK Habitat Classification (UKHab):

A newer, more detailed system for mapping habitats. Specialised surveys for rare plants (montane, arctic), peat depth, invasive species, or specific habitats like dunes, bogs, and heathlands.
